A Platform Built from Community
OneJamii was created from a simple but powerful vision: to connect the Black and Caribbean diaspora through culture, travel, business, technology, and community.
What started as TravelJamii has grown into a broader digital platform with a bigger purpose. Today, OneJamii represents more than travel. It represents connection. It represents discovery. It represents economic empowerment. It represents a digital home for the diaspora.
The meaning of the word “Jamii” says it best: community.
OneJamii is being built to serve the community — from Grenada to the wider Caribbean, from Canada and the United States to the United Kingdom, Africa, and the global Black diaspora.
The Problem We Are Solving
Across the Caribbean and the diaspora, many Black-owned and Caribbean-owned businesses provide excellent products, services, and experiences. Yet many of them still struggle with visibility.
Travelers often want to support local businesses, book trusted accommodations, find transportation, attend cultural events, discover restaurants, explore real estate opportunities, or connect with community services — but there is no single trusted platform that brings all of this together.
At the same time, business owners, property owners, event organizers, creators, and service providers need more exposure beyond their local networks.
OneJamii was created to solve that problem.
It gives the community a place to be seen, discovered, supported, and connected.
The Solution: One App, One Caribbean, One Global Diaspora
OneJamii brings together travel, business, culture, media, events, and community in one platform.
Through the app and website, users can discover businesses, accommodations, events, travel services, community stories, local guides, photos, blogs, news, radio, and marketplace opportunities.
The platform is designed to support:
Business discovery
Travel and tourism
Accommodation bookings
Transportation connections
Local and diaspora events
Community storytelling
Caribbean culture
Real estate and investment visibility
Black-owned and Caribbean-owned businesses
Diaspora engagement
The long-term vision is clear: to build a trusted digital bridge connecting the Caribbean, Africa, North America, the United Kingdom, and the global Black diaspora.
From TravelJamii to OneJamii
TravelJamii began with a strong focus on travel and tourism. The original goal was to help travelers discover authentic Caribbean experiences while supporting local businesses.
Over time, the mission expanded.
The community needed more than a travel guide. It needed a platform that could support accommodations, transportation, food, events, real estate, blogs, business listings, family memories, cultural content, and diaspora connection.
That growth led to OneJamii.
OneJamii is the next chapter — a stronger, wider, and more community-focused platform built to connect people with the services, stories, and opportunities that matter.
Real Impact: More Than Just an App
OneJamii’s journey is not only about building technology. It is also about real work, real relationships, and real community impact.
In 2019, through TravelJamii, we coordinated a humanitarian and community-focused trip to Grenada with more than 45 New York Police Department officers, members of their soccer team, and their families. This initiative helped strengthen diaspora connection, promoted Grenada, and showed the power of bringing people together through travel, culture, and service.
That experience proved something important: when the diaspora is connected to home in the right way, the impact can go far beyond one visit.
The platform has also played an active role in Grenada’s tourism space. During Spicemas 2025, TravelJamii helped provide accommodation support for over 200 people visiting Grenada.
This included helping guests find apartments, villas, transportation, and local services during one of the busiest and most important tourism periods on the island.
This was not just about bookings. It was about creating trust, helping visitors feel supported, assisting property owners, and keeping more tourism dollars connected to local people and local businesses.
From the NYPD Grenada trip to Spicemas accommodation support, OneJamii has already shown that it is more than a directory. It is a practical, trusted bridge between the Caribbean and the global diaspora.
Supporting Grenada as the Starting Point

Grenada has always been a major part of the OneJamii journey.
Grenada represents home, heritage, tourism, culture, investment, and opportunity. It is also a powerful starting point because of its strong diaspora communities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and beyond.
Through OneJamii, Grenada can be promoted not only as a travel destination, but also as a place for business, events, real estate, wellness, food, technology, investment, and cultural connection.
Major moments like Spicemas, national events, tourism campaigns, diaspora gatherings, and investment opportunities give OneJamii the chance to showcase Grenada in a more modern and connected way.
The goal is to help Grenadian businesses, property owners, service providers, event organizers, and entrepreneurs gain more visibility locally and internationally.

Economic Empowerment Through Visibility
OneJamii is built around economic empowerment.
Every time someone discovers a local business, books an accommodation, hires a driver, attends an event, supports a restaurant, purchases a product, or reads a community story, that connection matters.
It helps circulate money within the community.
It gives small businesses more visibility.
It helps travelers make better decisions.
It gives the diaspora a meaningful way to support home.
It helps local entrepreneurs compete in a digital world.
For too long, many Caribbean and Black-owned businesses have depended only on word of mouth, social media posts, or personal referrals. OneJamii helps organize that visibility into a platform that can grow with the community.
Partnerships That Strengthen the Mission
OneJamii has also been strengthened by relationships and support from educational institutions, business organizations, innovation partners, and community-focused groups.
Over the years, the journey has included connections with York University, Sheridan College, Humber College, Algoma University, the City of Brampton, the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre, RIC Centre, Countrystyle Community Tourism Network, and Norton Rose Fulbright.
These partnerships and relationships have helped support research, student collaboration, mentorship, business development, innovation, and community growth.
For OneJamii, partnership is not just about logos or names. It is about building a stronger ecosystem around culture, tourism, technology, entrepreneurship, and diaspora connection.
As the platform continues to grow, OneJamii is seeking to build even more strategic partnerships across travel, tourism, technology, education, media, real estate, investment, and community development.
The Bigger Opportunity
The Black travel and diaspora market is powerful.
Millions of people across the world are looking for authentic travel experiences, cultural connection, trusted businesses, and meaningful ways to support their communities.
OneJamii is positioned to serve that market by becoming a trusted digital platform for discovery and connection.
The opportunity is not limited to Grenada. Grenada is the foundation, but the long-term vision includes the wider Caribbean, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Africa, and other diaspora communities around the world.
The mission is global, but the foundation remains community.
Why Now
The world is more connected than ever, but communities still need trusted spaces built with their culture, needs, and values in mind.
Travelers want authentic experiences.
Business owners need better visibility.
The diaspora wants stronger connections to home.
Caribbean economies need more community-driven digital tools.
Young entrepreneurs need platforms that showcase their work.
Local property owners and service providers need access to wider markets.
OneJamii brings these needs together in one place.
This is the right time to build a platform that connects culture, business, tourism, and diaspora opportunity.
The Future of OneJamii
The next stage of OneJamii is about growth, visibility, and impact.
That means bringing more businesses onto the platform, improving the app experience, expanding travel guides, promoting more events, publishing more blogs, highlighting more community stories, and helping more people discover trusted services.
It also means continuing to support major Caribbean moments such as Spicemas, Carnival, tourism events, business showcases, diaspora gatherings, and cultural celebrations.
The future of OneJamii is not only measured by downloads. It is measured by the number of people, businesses, families, travelers, and communities the platform helps connect.
A Call to the Community
OneJamii is for the business owner who wants to be discovered.
It is for the traveler looking for authentic experiences.
It is for the diaspora member who wants to stay connected to home.
